Zoom Avatar Integration

Zoom offers built-in avatar support and works with third-party virtual camera tools for AI avatar meetings. Learn to set up both approaches.

Zoom's Built-In Avatars

Zoom has native avatar features that mirror your expressions:

  • Available in Zoom 5.10+ for desktop and mobile
  • Choose from animal and stylized avatar options
  • Tracks head movement, expressions, and mouth for lip sync
  • No additional software required
  • Enable via: Settings → Video → Avatars

Setting Up Built-In Avatars

  1. Update Zoom

Ensure you're running Zoom 5.10 or later. Check for updates in the app.

  2. Enable in Settings

Go to Settings → Video → Enable Avatars (admin may need to enable for your organization).

  3. Select During Meeting

In a meeting, click the arrow next to "Stop Video" and choose "Choose Virtual Avatar."

  4. Customize

Select your preferred avatar style and customize colors and accessories.

Third-Party Avatars in Zoom

For photorealistic or custom avatars, use virtual camera tools:

  1. Set up your avatar in HeyGen, NVIDIA Broadcast, or VTube Studio
  2. Enable the virtual camera output from the avatar software
  3. In Zoom, go to Settings → Video → Camera and select the virtual camera
  4. Your AI avatar now appears as your video feed in the meeting
